I hope everyone enjoyed the sunshine this long weekend! Here are a couple notes for the week: Library Books: Please return all library books from our school library to the school by Friday. You will need to call the number on the door once you arrive for someone to come retrieve the book from you. Teams Meetings: We will continue to meet on Monday and Wednesdays. A quick reminder that we will no longer meet on Fridays. Daily lesson: Please have your child watch the YouTube video below and complete the task outlined under Seesaw activities. Lesson from a Pinch of Kinder!
Today we are learning about height: I can compare objects by heights. I can make sure my tools are following the measurement rules. I can use words like shortest, shorter, taller, tallest and about the same. The comparing height assignment can be found under activities on Seesaw.
Today we learned about length! Here are the goals from this lesson: - I can compare objects by length. - I can use words like shortest, shorter, longest and about the same. - I can use the measurement rules with my tools. There are 2 activities on Seesaw that support our learning goals. You can choose to do one of the activities or both!
I hope everyone had a safe weekend full of lots of love and kindness toward the very special moms and grandmas who are apart of our families. Time seems to be flying by and the end of June is going to be here before we know it. I will begin to book a one time, one-on-one session with myself and your child through Teams to play some games and accomplish assessment in the next few weeks. New work package: Some families have requested a new work package for their kiddo to use at home. By clicking the button below, you can download and print a new work package that contains 20 pages of literacy and numeracy worksheets. These are not mandatory to complete but rather a supplementary option for students would like extra pencil and paper work. Show and tell: Show and tell will continue on Fridays during our small group Teams conference. This week the kiddos can share something that starts with the letter, Z! Daily Teaching Videos: I will continue to send daily teaching videos every morning by 11:00 am. All teaching videos will be followed up with an assignment under the "activities" section on Seesaw. Some days there may not be a video but rather, an assignment posted with instructions on how to implement the activity at home. Thank-you for uploading these activities to your child's portfolio. I have appreciated the opportunity to continue connecting and learning with your kiddo, from home! Aside from sending you the link in your Seesaw inbox, I will also be posting the activities and videos to the blog for easy access later on. Here is the daily teaching video for today, Monday, May 11th: Homemade playdough: One of my favorite things to do as a kid was to make playdough with my mom! We have a special family recipe from my Aunty that I continue to make for the kinders to play with today. I thought I would share it in case anyone is feeling they need an extra activity to do with their kiddos at home this week. Feel free to add essential oils and food coloring to the mix for some extra fun! I have also used a kettle instead of cooking the mixture in a pot and it works just a well.
We are learning about 3D shapes in Kindergarten! We are learning to identify and describe the shapes using common geometric terms. We know that we can do this when: 1) We can identify a cube, cylinder, sphere and cone. 2) We can talk about the 2D shapes we see in the 3D objects. 3) We can give an example of a real life 3D figure. 4) We can sort 3D shapes and give the sorting rule. 5) We can build a model with 3D shapes and talk about the differences between the original 3D model. Here is the poem we read today! Remember you can practice it with your mom, dad, dog or call grandma and grandpa. The button below the picture allows you to print off a copy. 3D Shape Cards: Below is a 3D shapes game that you can print off and play or you can use the 3rd page as flash cards and signs for your museum at home!
Happy Monday Kinder Family!! I hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weekend we had. Spring seems to be taking its time to give us some warmer weather, however it has been invigorating to watch our community grow more lively with people taking in the fresh spring air. I have a few notes and changes for the week: 1) Daily Teaching Videos: I will continue to send a daily teaching video out every morning. Seesaw limits the time to 5 minutes, so I will begin posting the videos on YouTube. I will send the YouTube link every morning via the Seesaw messaging feature. Just click the link and you will be good to go! The assignment from the video can still be uploaded to seesaw and found in the Activities section! Here is the first Youtube teaching video for you. 2) Teams Conferencing: Our teams video conferencing will continue to be on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, however the times and groups have changed. Please log onto your child's account to see your new time/ group. These times and groups will commence today! Every Monday we will learn a new letter, every Wednesday we will focus on Popcorn Words and Friday's we will be doing show and tell based on the letter of the week. This week is the letter O! 3) Riverheights School Parent Survey: Please take 5 minutes and fill out the survey from the admin at Riverheights School. We would like all parents to submit their answers to the survey by Friday, May 8th. I will send the link on Seesaw by the end of the day.
Have a wonderful day and as always, please contact me with any questions, comments or concerns. |
